Dear One,

"The only remedy for love is to love more."

Henry David Thoreau

I started volunteering at a hospice last year, yearning to offer comfort and companionship to those living out their final chapter. I have had several clients, and it has been an honor and a privilege to know each of them and witness their final days.  Amidst countless heartwarming moments at the hospice, one extraordinary love story has profoundly moved me, and I feel compelled to share it with you.

Last September, I began working with a new client in hospice care, a delightful 95-year-old named Mary. Each time I visited, Mary would sweetly inquire about her "boyfriend," and I would gently tell her I hadn't seen him. Curious, I spoke with the staff and discovered that Mary's "boyfriend" was actually her husband of 68 years, Mark, who lived next door in assisted living. Every single day, Mark visits Mary for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, bringing her a little treat to tempt her appetite, holding her hand, and recounting the tale of their first meeting. As he leaves, he promises to return for the next meal, showering her with kisses and gazing at her with profound love. He places his hand over his heart and whispers, "I love you," as he departs.  I was asked by Mark to visit Mary after dinner when her Sundowner Dementia symptoms are more pronounced, and she feels anxious about being alone. I just can't help myself; I arrive early each time I visit to witness the tender and sweet moments between the two of them. Though I volunteer to offer support and care, I am the one who leaves each visit with a big smile on my face, a full heart, and a renewed belief in the power of true love.

Not everyone is as lucky as Mary and Mark; many people are alone at the end of their journey.  If you have the desire and opportunity to volunteer at a hospice, please do; it is a wonderful place to witness patience, kindness, and a whole lot of love.

"And still, after all this time, the Sun has never said to the Earth, "You owe me."

Look what happens with love like that.

It lights up the sky."

Intangible Treasures

Elevating Non-Financial Wealth Through Legacy

Intangible Treasures is dedicated to preserving the stories, traditions, and wisdom that define families and communities. Through custom legacy products—such as children’s books, holiday cards, biographical books and poetry books—founder Cemeré James and her team help families capture their most cherished moments, ensuring that love, resilience, and wisdom endure across generations. In a world where technology delivers instant information but often devalues communal traditions, Intangible Treasures fosters deeper connections, reigniting the power of shared stories to inspire, heal, and strengthen bonds.

A cornerstone of this work is the Legacy Cultivation Sessions, a transformative offering led by Cemeré James. These guided experiences provide a sacred space for individuals to explore their spiritual legacy, reflect on their journey, and create a plan for how their values and wisdom will uplift future generations. After each session, participants receive a personalized e-journal filled with insights from the experience and prompts to deepen their reflection, ensuring their legacy is documented with grace, wisdom, and strength. Through these offerings, Intangible Treasures helps individuals and families create enduring, meaningful connections that transcend time.
